Invivo Partners anuncia la primera inversió del seu nou fons, Invivo Ventures III, en Neumirna Therapeutics

Neumirna Therapeutics secures €20M in initial closing of Series A to develop RNA therapies for epilepsy. The round was closed by a strong international syndicate and co-led by Invivo Partners and the corporate fund Angelini Ventures.

Barcelona,Spain, [8/1/2025] – Neumirna Therapeutics, a preclinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing RNA-based therapies for neurological disorders, today announced the closing of its €20 million Series A financing round. The round was co-led by Invivo Partners and Angelini Ventures, with participation from existing investor Innovestor and several business angels. While the initial closing has been completed, the round remains open for additional investors during the first half of 2025.

The funds raised in this Series A will be utilized to advance Neumirna’s lead program, NMT-001, an antimiR targeting microRNA-134 (miR-134) for the treatment of drug-resistant epilepsy. Additionally, the financing will support the expansion of the company’s proprietary platform for the design of oligonucleotides targeting specific microRNAs in other neurological conditions, such as Parkinson’s Disease.

Neumirna’s anti-miR therapy is designed to treat chronic, drug-resistant epilepsy, a condition affecting millions of individuals globally. The company’s goal with NMT-001 is to deliver a disease-modifying treatment. Preclinical data have demonstrated promising results in overcoming drug resistance and preventing recurrences in animal models.

“Investing in Neumirna represents a unique opportunity to support a pioneering company in leveraging RNA technology to treat neurological diseases” said Luis Pareras, Managing Partner at Invivo Partners. “As a neurosurgeon, I am deeply impressed by the innovative approach and the results of NMT-001. This is the first time I’ve seen an approach targeting the root cause of the disease rather than managing the seizures. Neumirna’s approach has the potential to change how we treat drug-resistant epilepsy, offering a transformative solution for patients with this devastating condition.”

“This funding milestone is a testament to the groundbreaking potential of our RNA-based platform and our development candidate, NMT.001,” said Professor Janine Erler, CEO of Neumirna Therapeutics. “We are thrilled to have the support of leading international investors, who share our vision of addressing the unmet needs of patients living with neurological disorders. This funding is essential to bring NMT.001 to clinical trials and advance our pipeline.”

Luis Pareras and Thomas Thestrup, Senior Principal at Angelini Ventures, will join the Board of Directors of Neumirna, with Luis Pareras being appointed Chairman of the Board.
